My MIL keeps making comments that he 'just needs firmer boundaries' and 'we didn't have ADHD in our day'. It's wearing me down. How do you handle the family members who don't get it without starting WW3 at Christmas?

'We didn't have a name for it in your day' is my go-to. Then I stop explaining. I don't need her to agree, I just need her to not undermine me in front of him.

I gave my dad one short article and said 'you don't have to believe me, believe the research'. Didn't fully land but it lowered the comments by about 80%.

Honestly some of them never get it and that's a grief of its own. Protect your kid's ears from it and protect your peace. You don't owe anyone a debate.

WW3 at Christmas, accurate 😂 We set one rule: you can have your opinions, you can't say them in front of him. Worked better than trying to convert her.
