Visual timers — which ones actually survived my kids?

Started by Dave T · 30 December 2025

Bought 3 different visual timers and they're all either broken or ignored. Looking for recs that are a) durable b) not so beepy they cause a meltdown of their own. What's working in your house?

Time Timer (the red disc one) is the only thing that's lasted. No tick, gentle optional beep, and the visual 'shrinking red' is the bit that clicks for my daughter.

Honestly we just use the analog clock app on an old phone with the chunky countdown. Free and he can't break a screen he's not allowed to touch 😅

Sand timers for the little transitions (teeth, getting dressed) and a Time Timer for the big ones. Different tools for different jobs has worked better than one magic timer.

Whatever you get, let them decorate it / make it 'theirs'. Buy-in matters more than the brand for us.
