Paed recommended a trial of a low-dose stimulant. Logically I know the research, but emotionally I keep thinking I'm going to medicate his sparkle away. For those who've done it — did your kid still feel like your kid?

Still 100% my kid — just my kid who could finish a sentence and not cry over his shoelaces. The personality stays. If anything we saw MORE of him because the frustration wasn't drowning everything out.

We had to try two before one fit, so don't panic if the first isn't perfect. The 'zombie' look usually means the dose is too high, not that meds are wrong. Tell your paed everything you notice.

Following — we're a few weeks behind you and I have the exact same fear.

Day 3 was our turning point. He looked up from his homework and went 'mum my brain is quiet' and I had to leave the room. He's still cheeky, still hilarious, just less at war with himself.

Just want to gently say it's also ok if you decide meds aren't for you. No judgement here either way. We're all just trying to help our kids.
