We've tried every chart, every reward system, every "just wake up earlier" suggestion. Nothing sticks for more than a week. My 8yo with ADHD literally cannot sequence tasks in the morning without prompting every single step. What's actually working for your family?

We had the same issue. The game-changer for us was making the routine VISUAL and PHYSICAL. We printed photos of each step (not words — photos of our actual kid doing each thing) and put them on a strip on the bathroom mirror. Also — we stopped expecting independence too early. My 9yo still needs me nearby, not prompting, just... present. That's okay.

Two things that helped us: 1) Do as much as possible the night before (clothes out, bag packed, lunch made). 2) Music. We play the same playlist every morning — it's become a time cue. When a certain song comes on, the boys know it's time to grab shoes. It's not perfect but it reduced the yelling by about 80%.

As a teacher and ADHD mum — body doubles work. I sit in the bathroom and read my phone while my daughter gets ready. I'm not directing, just being there. The moment I leave the room, she's off task. It's developmental, not defiance.

The music idea is brilliant! We tried it this morning and my son actually got dressed without being asked three times. Small win but I'll take it!
