I'm talking full-blown, screaming, throwing things, hitting walls meltdowns. Multiple times a day. I'm walking on eggshells in my own home. I love my kid but I'm scared of him sometimes. I feel so alone in this. Please tell me someone else understands.

I understand. I've been there. The fear, the guilt about the fear, the exhaustion. You are NOT alone. Please know that meltdowns are not tantrums — they're a nervous system in overdrive. Your child isn't choosing this. And you're not failing. You're surviving something incredibly hard.

If meltdowns are this frequent and intense, please talk to your paed about whether there are co-occurring conditions — anxiety, sensory processing issues, or ODD. ADHD rarely travels alone. Also: during a meltdown, your only job is safety. Not teaching, not reasoning, not consequences. Just safety. The learning happens later when they're regulated.

Mate, I used to sit in my car in the driveway for 10 minutes before going inside because I was dreading what I'd walk into. It does get better with the right support. OT for sensory needs + psych for strategies + maybe meds was the combo that reduced our meltdowns by about 70%.
